If you’re in Atlanta, please join me on October 11 from 10am-noon at Lost Corner Preserve for a brand-new presentation I'm excited to share about decomposition – an overlooked but primary ecological process in a healthy ecosystem. Every living thing in our yard depends in some way on dead things and more we can support decomposition, the more biodiversity we will have.

In this talk I’ll help you see beyond flowers 🌸and explore the crucial role decomposition plays in supporting insects, birds, and other wildlife 🐿️🐌🦋🐦 plus give practical, unique, and even whimsical ways to embrace natural yard matter in addition to leaving the leaves.

Hopefully you’ll leave the presentation with a bio-productive perspective that will inspire you to make at least one change in your own yard to support decay. Yes, decay! 🪵 🍄‍🟫🍂

The event is hosted by the Friends of Lost Corner (FOLC) and is FREE, but if you plan to attend, register here sooner than later because space is usually at a premium in this cozy venue. Check out the other free fall nature related classes and event host by Friends of Lost Corner.

It looks like it will be a beautiful fall day so you may want to set aside enough time before or after the talk to meander through the restorative 24-acre preserve.

Please share this message where you think it might be welcome🐦🐛🌿

By the way – to showcase the life we can support even in small spaces all the critter photos in this post were taken in my 1/4 rewilded urban yard!

I hope to see you there!
